Monarto Revegetation Tour Connects Landholders

Activity From The Mulgundawa to Monarto Biodiversity Links Nature Project

As part of our Mulgundawa to Monarto South Biodiversity Links Project Senior Project officer Ben Simon recently hosted a revegetation tour with interested and currently engaged land managers.

The tour focused on three established revegetation sites in and around Monarto South, providing attendees with examples of different aged revegetation covering various soil types, approaches, and desired functions. It was an inspiring half day full of interesting plants, birds and discussions.

Second Nature have been undertaking various on-ground actions for biodiversity with landholders in the area and this latest activity encouraged and informed land managers to explore future revegetation efforts for their own land. The day also enabled landholders to connect with each other, share experiences and seek advice from key project staff.

Thank you to Michelle, Kelvin and the Murdoch family for welcoming us on to their properties and sharing their experience of working with Second Nature to revegetate their land.

Also thank you to Mick from Greening Australia and Victoria Hefford, Threatened Flora Ecologist from Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board for coming along and sharing their expertise on the day.

This project is supported by the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board through funding from the landscape levies
