A Workshop From The Alexandrina Greening & Wildlife Project

Come and join us at Goolwa Library to discover more about our amazing local turtle species, learn why they are so important to our environment, and how we can help.

Event Details…

Our presenters for the session;

  • Professor Mike Thompson from the University of Sydney. Mike has been a leading figure in turtle biology research in Australia for many years. He authored the pioneering study that first highlighted the threat fox predation posed to Australian turtles and has since become a prominent advocate for turtle conservation in South Australia.

  • Deanne from Alexandrina Wildlife Support Group. Deanne has dedicated many years to the rescue of turtles (and all native wildlife) in the Alexandrina community and will share her experiences from a very local perspective.

This workshop is part of the Alexandrina Greening and Wildlife project. It is a collaboration between Alexandrina Council and Second Nature Conservancy proudly funded by Alexandrina Council.

We will learn about the award-winning community citizen science project, One Million Turtles, how to use TurtleSat, a tool for reporting turtle sightings, and learn about our common turtles we might be lucky to see in our local area.

This session is family friendly; any children will need to be supervised by an adult.
